Purpose of the team
To advise and support schools in their development of extended activities and services.
Description of service

Work in partnership with schools to assist them to develop extended provision

Work with other partners across the city to promote and enhance effective extended schools and services

Description of the core offer
Flowing out of the government’s clear agenda to ensure coherent and co-operative children’s services, is the requirement that all schools, or groups of schools and partners, offer these extended activity for their communities by 2010.

Childcare: all parents of primary aged children able to access childcare at or through their school from 8am to 6pm all year round.

A varied menu of activities on offer for at least two hours a week beyond the school day, for those who want it.

Parenting support, including family learning and parent education.

Swift and easy accessto a wide range of specialist support services.

Wider community access to information and communication technology (ICT), sports and arts facilities, including adult learning.
