While E4L provides the very latest in design, construction and management of learning environments, Leeds has also secured a separate partnership with learning technology specialists RM to provide the very best cutting edge technology to unlock the potential of the BSF schools.

Leeds has also secured funding to ‘retro-fit’ BSF levels of technology in the eight state-of-the-art secondary schools built under pre-BSF Private Finance Initiative (PFI) programmes.

IT suite in school

‘Anytime, anywhere’ learning is supported by unprecedented levels of technology, including:

• A ratio of at least one device per young person

• A massive range of portable devices, including laptops, macbooks, mini-books, lightweight Eee PCs, and PDAs

• Innovative use of technology familiar to young people, including Nintendo DS Lites, MP3 recorders and Play Station Portables

• Industry standard technology in graphics suites, science spaces, technology, music and arts studios

• Digital recording equipment and video conferencing

• Whole class teaching equipment, including interactive whiteboard, projectors and a teacher PC

The role of ICT

RM

Founded in 1973, the RM Group is a leading provider of educational products and services to schools, colleges and universities, local government and central government education departments and agencies. RM works closely with educationalists to create new products, processes and technology which improve teaching and learning.

As well as providing the latest in learning technology for Leeds BSF Schools, and others built under previous PFI programmes, as Leeds’ strategic ICT partner, the company is providing advisory and strategy support to transform education across the city’s primary and secondary schools.
