Transport information page The transport section of Education Leeds' Admission and Transport team administers policy and strategic planning for all aspects of transport for pupils and students to and from their place of education. This is in line with legal requirements and our Policy for the provision of home to school or college transport for children and students prior to their nineteenth birthday.
The transport section works closely with Metro (the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive), to make sure adequate transport is available to and from mainstream schools attended by children who live in Leeds. The section also arranges free or cost-assisted transport for eligible learners.
The section oversees arrangements that are made for children and young people up to the age of 25, who have special needs or learning difficulties. Door-to-door transport is organised where necessary on our behalf by Leeds City Council's Passenger Transport department.
The current policy that governs which children are eligible for free home to school transport to mainstream schools came into effect on 1 September 2008.
