Transforming school food and drink

Welcome to the new Leeds School Meals website

The Leeds School Meals team are here to offer guidance and support to all schools to help implement the new school meal standards, improve the dining experience and ensure everyone has access to and enjoys healthy school meals.

New! Healthy Eating drive aimed at children
A new healthy eating drive from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) is aimed at improving children's knowledge on the subject. The food competences framework will involve schools and communities, the FSA states. It is hoped that youngsters will then make informed decisions about food when they are older. For more information please click below:

The aim of the website is to:

  • Share best practice
  • Provide access to useful resources
  • Give everyone an opportunity to comment about their school meal and/or dining room experience.

This site is particularly useful for:

  • Dinner ladies and/or Dining Room supervisors
  • Cooks
  • Students
  • Health Professionals
  • School staff/Governors
  • Anyone with an interest in school meals

The team are keen to ensure this site meets your needs, and will be updating the site with new projects and developments regularly, but if you feel you have some ideas for information that would be useful on the site please let us know.
